Finding a Home

Christian Action Housing owns and manages over 1000 homes in the four North London boroughs of Enfield, Barnet, Haringey & Waltham Forest.

If you are looking for an affordable home to rent you will need to apply for a Council referral.

The first thing you should do is make contact with your local Council. They will take details from you and put you on the Housing Needs Register. When a Christian Action Housing home becomes available, the Council will nominate people from their Register to live in that home. If you wish to move to a new home, you can also apply to the Council to be put on the Transfer List.

Most councils now operate a Choice Based Lettings scheme to allocate vacant properties to persons who are on the Housing Needs Register. The vacancies that the council and the various housing associations have available each week are advertised in the local press and on the council’s websites. Persons who are on the register then use the points that they have been allocated to ‘bid’ for any properties that they are interested in. The person with the highest points is then allocated the property.

If you are a public sector worker living in one of the four North London Boroughs in which we operate, we do have housing available from time to time. We maintain our own waiting list for this. Please request an application form from our head office.

Other opportunities for housing are available such as the Government funded Shared Ownership Scheme, housing for key workers, and financial support to seek homes outside London where demand is a lot lower and you may find suitable accommodation quickly. For these options we suggest you contact your local Council who will have up to date information as to the current opportunities that are available.
